A New Frontier for Asian E Commerce: Vietnamese Women
You should buy virtually anything on China's successful ecommerce sites. I bought my cat on Taobao [1]. And that's not the sole living, breathing friend you can get yourself online. There are a quantity of dating sites which, running in a legal grey area, could efficiently help Asian men to buy a Vietnamese woman. Like that's not enough, one such website, Ynxn1314.com (shown above), offers cutprice group get trip deals. The Groupon-design package implies that for 30,000 to 40,000 RMB (US$4,300 to $6,300), a lot of the site's customers usually takes a visit to Vietnam and be connected with attractive local Vietnamese women aged 18 to 25 (pictured above).
It's an amazing – if morally questionable – company, plus one that has been investigated properly by theGlobal Times earlier today. Match-making across borders for-profit is illegal in China, although it's one of the many areas that are charged in a poor fashion. The magazine found that staffers at Ynxn1314 (whose name is an acronym-homonym arrangement of "Vietnamese spouse for a lifetime") were well aware of the shady legal location the site's in:
I know our company is not permitted from the Chinese government, but there is no punishment. The unions of our customers are still legal, even if we are turn off.
True. But the site's operators – it seems wrong to phrase this a "startup" – deny they've a 'daily deals' sort of approach to match making, and claim to matchmake their customers with care. Also, all of the Vietnamese women who look for a suitor enter the country legally.
Crossing the Mekong
What it's doing is not fresh, and meets a really obvious need around some other dating site in China, such as Jiayuan (NASDAQ:TIME) or Baihe.
As a worrying gender difference is created by China's standard preference for male heirs, the marketplace it handles is potentially large. Some estimates put the disparity as high as30 million in numbers. That's a lot of bachelors.

Despite some stereotypes of so-called mailorder brides, all of the matches on Ynxn1314 seem era-correct, as observed in its gallery of seemingly happy matches. It doesn't always work out for your matches that different marriage agencies produce, however, with a quantity of brides – filled often with concern, guilt, or cultureshock – apparently running back with their homeland.
Therefore, despite running over a shady periphery of the Chinese e-commerce picture, such crossborder match making sites look set-to thrive until the experts decide to clampdown
